Choice Reaction Time Test
Four panels sit on screen and one lights up at random. Tap the lit panel — or press its number key, 1 to 4 — as fast as you can. Unlike a simple reaction test, your brain must first decide where the light is, so answers come slower. We run 24 rounds and report your average choice reaction time, accuracy and early taps.
About the Choice Reaction Time Test
A simple reaction test asks you to respond to any signal the moment it appears. A choice reaction test is harder: you must first work out which of several locations was triggered, then move to answer. That extra decision adds roughly 100 to 150 milliseconds — a pattern known as Hick's law, where more options mean a longer decision.
Here four fixed panels light up one at a time, and you answer with a click or the matching number key. Tapping before a panel lights counts as an early tap, and a round with no answer within 1.5 seconds is recorded as a miss. Your average only includes correct answers.
