Chimp Test

Numbers are scattered across a grid. Tap them in order, 1, 2, 3… — but the moment you tap the first one, every number hides. Keep going from memory. Start at four numbers and add one each round.

About the Chimp Test

Named after the chimpanzee studies where animals outperformed humans at a quick number task, this test asks you to hold positions in mind and click them in order. The twist is that the numbers disappear the instant you tap the first one, so you must rely on spatial memory rather than reading them off the screen.

Each round starts with four numbers. Finish a round and another number is added, and the grid grows to fit. One wrong tap ends the test, and your score is the largest set of numbers you completed. Most adults manage around eight.
