N-Back Test
Squares light up one at a time on a grid. Tap Match whenever the current square is in the same spot as the one two steps back — the 2-back rule. This classic working memory task measures how well you hold and update a stream of positions in mind.

About the N-Back Test
The n-back task is one of the most used measures of working memory updating. You have to keep the last few positions active, compare each new one against the one n steps back, and then let the oldest slip away. This version uses n = 2, so you compare the current square with the one from two trials ago.
Tapping when there is no match counts as a false alarm, while staying still on a real match is a miss. Accuracy across both kinds of trial decides your grade. Roughly one third of the trials after the start are true matches, so you cannot simply tap every time or never tap at all.
